How to Cope with Diabetes
Diabetes
Diabetes mellitus is a disease where the levels of glucose (simple sugar) in the blood is high because the body can not release or use insulin adequately.
Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas, which is responsible in maintaining normal blood sugar levels.
Insulin incorporate sugar into cells so that it can produce energy or stored as energy reserves.
The early symptoms of diabetes should continue to look out for is the body begins to often feel hungry, thirsty and frequent urination.
According to the diagnostic criteria Perkeni (Society for Endocrinology Indonesia), 2006 if a person is said to suffer from diabetes have a fasting blood sugar> 126 mg / dL and on tests when> 200 mg / dL.
Blood sugar levels vary throughout the day which will increase after the meal and returned to normal within 2 hours.
Normal blood sugar levels on the morning after the night before to fast is 70-110 mg / dl of blood.
Blood sugar levels are usually less than 120-140 mg / dL at 2 hours after eating or drinking liquids that contain sugar or other carbohydrates.
Normal blood sugar levels tend to increase in mild but progressively (gradually) after age 50 years, especially in people who are not actively engaged.
Increased levels of blood sugar after eating or drinking stimulates the pancreas to produce insulin, thus preventing the increase in blood sugar and cause further blood sugar level decreased gradually.
No other way to lower blood sugar levels is by doing physical activities like exercise because muscles use glucose in the blood to be used as energy.
Find Causes & Types Diabetes Mellitus
Diabetes occurs when the body does not produce enough insulin to keep blood sugar levels are normal or if the cell does not give proper response to insulin.
There are 2 types of Diabetes Mellitus,
  1. Diabetes Mellitus Type 1 (insulin-dependent diabetes)
  2. Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 (diabetes are not dependent on insulin, NIDDM)
The cause of diabetes are:
High levels of corticosteroids
Pregnancy gestational diabetes), will disappear after giving birth.
Drugs that can damage the pancreas.
Toxins that affect the formation or the effects of insulin.
